The Goat Race Greymouth
The Goat Race traverses the legendary Croesus Track from Barrytown to Blackball. This is a 26km long mountain trail running race and is an individual pursuit event, open to anyone over the age of 14. The track has a long history dating back to the late 1860’s when gold was first discovered on the West Coast. It has a total accent of 1054 metres and has a maximum elevation of 1201 metres. The Paparoa Range trail remains a popular walking track and has had an extensive upgrade over the past couple of years. The 2016 race will be only the third time it’s been used for the Goat Race across Croesus Track since the work was carried by the Department of Conservation. Transport can be booked, $20 per runner, from the finish line to the start line area on the morning of the event.
