TranzAlpine Train Christchurch – Arthurs Pass – Greymouth

From Christchurch, cross the fertile farmlands of the Canterbury Plans and enjoy thrilling vistas over deep gorges as you travel alongside the ice-fed Waimakariri River. Traverse the mighty Southern Alps, where spectacular views of the chiselled alpine landscape will take your breath away at every turn. Descend through thick stands of beech forest to your destination, Greymouth – a great base to explore the West Coast region with its mighty glaciers, wild rivers and famous Punakaiki pancake rocks.

Services on board the TranzAlpine include;
Fully licenced cafe offering a diverse menu for all tastes accompanied by renowned New Zealand wines and boutique beers.
Modern rest room facilities on board, temperature controlled carriages, over sized featured side windows combined with unique sky view windows for a truly panoramic view.
Non tinted and non reflective ideal for taking photos through and their is an open air viewing carriage for further photo opportunities.
Specially designed seating configured either in pairs around tables, or as recliners that can be turned to face the direction of the the train travel.
Listen to the commentary via headphones as well as route information on overhead HD screens. Advanced glide air suspension means smooth and quiet ride with Kiwi Rail Scenic Journeys.

Heat restrictions may be implemented on the tracks during summer resulting in possible delays to services.
The train may depart intermediate stations earlier if all booked passengers are onboard.
Check-in is 20 minutes prior to departure time shown above.
The service doesn’t operate on Christmas Day.
